Walking & Bike Trail

The Streamside Open Space area was dedicated by Stanford University in order to protect the riparian habitat and sensitive archaeological resources along the San Francisquito Creek. The creek is home to several endangered species, including Steelhead Trout and Western Pond Turtles.

The land besides the creek, which spans nearly 12 acres, hosted a series of Native American villages sacred to the Muwekma Ohlone people more than 5000 years ago. The walking trail policies regarding this area are designed to protect wildlife and archaeological sites from human impact.

The Stanford Campus Biologist and Campus Archaeologist appreciate your cooperation and hope you will be active partners in preservation and restoration efforts.
